Biography
Shibe Alawiye began his career running at VTR Soho and Crow TV. He has been working in film production and broadcast for over seven years in total in different roles and locations. During his time at Crow TV he worked as an edit assistant on programmes such as Cash In The Attic, Gameville, This Morning and The Paul O' Grady Show.
In 2005 Shibe created his own production company Camerashai, where some of the services provided are filming videos, editing films & documentaries and making promos. Some of Camerashai clients which have had promos created for them are Make Poverty History, Gap, Nike and Adidas. Camerashai has also been involved with directing and editing music videos for independent UK artists such as Pyrelli, Doom Man and Triggs Vega. Camerashai productions was also hired by director Manish Patel (Triads, Yardies and Onion Bhajees and Cash N Curry) to function as head editor for the controversial independent feature film Camp X Ray.
During the summer of 2006 Shibe co-directed ,edited and produced the short film Out Fate. The film won the Best Newcomer Award at the 2006 Portobello Film Festival, and was also featured in the mental health exhibition Psychosis.
Shibe's experience in editing ranges from live on location editing for the BBC at events such as Glastonbury and Bestival (Isle of Wright), or functioning as edit supervisor on events such as the GCBT Awards 2007 (involving the likes of EON Productions, Technicolor) and featuring Roger Moore, Uri Gellar and Nina Nanner.
In 2009 Shibe took on the edit supervisor role on the feature length documentary "Routes To Roots" (which is soon to be broadcast on Channel 4). The documentary is a story about a group of UK music artists, including among others Bashy, Akala and Kele La Roc, being taken to Mali (Africa) to collaborate with musicians from all the corners of Africa to produce an album.
Taking his knowledge in filmmaking to another level Shibe created, produced and edited the feature length documentary "Makers Our Story". This is a film that looks at what makes the UK independent film industry so unique, where different aspects of a filmmaker's journey are investigated, highlighting their work and personal experiences involved with independent film making. Makers Our Story was premiered at Soho Rushes Film Festival 2011 and the went on general release in the UK during the autumn and will be available worldwide from 2012.
Recently Shibe was one of the creators of the music website and feature length documentary "Industry#1". Industry#1 serves as an online video platform, dedicated to the world of global beats and music cultures from around the world. Shibe's main roles within project are content manager for the website and producer and editor of the documentary. With the documentary being of the same theme as the website, Industry#1 was shot in the likes of Germany, New York and Oslo and features an array of international artists including Missy Elliott, Samy Deluxe, Foreign Beggers and Krs One.
